Motion – the constant change of physical or mental stages.
The essence of nature lies in motion and transformation - the endless conveyor belts with horizontal and vertical paths forming different destinations. In which ever forms it takes, motion is constantly inherent in every single subject including human beings, animals, and even seemingly immovable infrastructures which still has the ability to connect with the community as a ‘living creature’.
Some forms of motion are easily noticeable, for example, hopping on and off the journey back and forth the city or country sides. Other forms of motion could be more abstract, like the flow of feelings and energy within our mind. In a way, motion creates connection and catalysts that make us to have more profound understanding of the outer world as well as our inner selves.
For architect Ho Viet Vinh, the process of encountering, accompanying and witnessing the urban spatial structures, historical architectures and heritages gives him a glimpse objectively about the harmony between architectures, sceneries and people. Nature is intrinsically an infinite flow of vigor which is sometimes smooth or crooked; and if we understand that man and nature cannot be separated, we will know how to treat nature as we treat ourselves.
With a quiet gaze, the artist's mind has been in tune with the flow of nature in each of his journeys. The 18 works of architect Ho Viet Vinh in this display will open the way, taking you into a maze of transition, allowing you to freely initiate the stories or connections you have for each artwork. There will be no exact path or destination of the maze, and no emotional range is definite.
And hopefully, you could compile your own interpretation of ‘motion’.
